A Bit of a Bite

As I type, I'm here on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. The much-hyped partial solar eclipse is underway.

Sadly, for those of us in Detroit, the sun is setting as the moon is taking bigger and bigger bites. To make matters worse, a cloud layer in the distance is killing it.

Nevertheless, I saw ...I dunno...a quarter of the sun blotted out by the moon? Always cool.

In any case, the view from the observation deck at Sherzer Hall is stunning at sunset.

At least you saw something. I drove 80 miles east(160 miles round trip) to get out from under the clouds. By the time the Sun went down I had broken clouds above me but not to west where the Sun was.
